Grapefruit Graphics was approached by The Hampshire Apple Press, a new venture launching in 2026, to develop a complete brand identity package.
As a start-up with a clear environmental purpose and a compelling community focus, The Hampshire Apple Press needed a brand that could communicate its ethos of sustainability, local production, and craft heritage - while remaining adaptable for future growth.
Our brief covered a full business start-up package, including; Logo design, brand guidelines, Social media branding, printed marketing and packaging.
The Hampshire Apple Press was founded with a simple, powerful mission: to reduce the wastage of British apples. With only a handful of apple pressing facilities in the UK – and none located along the South Coast – an enormous amount of homegrown fruit is discarded each year, while much of the juice on our supermarket shelves is imported. Their goal is to change this. Customers can bring their own fallen apples to the press, where the fruit is sorted, washed, scratted, pressed, pasteurised, and bottled into delicious apple juice. Each batch can then be personalised with a custom label, featuring a name, message, or logo – making it an ideal gift or keepsake.
We wanted to capture the authenticity and traditional processes that define The Hampshire Apple Press, while ensuring the brand felt modern and versatile. The logo was designed to reflect the natural, artisanal process of apple pressing, using a warm, earthy colour palette inspired by orchards, autumn harvests, and the Hampshire countryside. The typography was chosen to evoke the charm of traditional craftsmanship – rooted in heritage, yet refreshed for a modern audience
Future expansion
Recognising the business’s potential for future expansion, we created a modular brand system. This allows for the introduction of distinct colour variants across product ranges – such as different apple varieties or limited-edition blends – while maintaining strong visual consistency. Two label designs have been developed which are customisable;
Personalised Label Template – Primary product. For customers’ bespoke batches, designed to accommodate names, messages, or business logos while remaining on-brand.
Core Product Label – for The Hampshire Apple Press’s own retail line, sold at markets and local shops. This range helps further reduce waste by transforming surplus fruit into a high-quality, own-brand by-product.
We supplied brand guidelines covering logo usage, colour palettes, type hierarchy, prototype examples and imagery to ensure the brand remains cohesive across all platforms. The rollout also included: Social media branding for digital presence and local marketing, Printed collateral, including business cards, flyers, and bottle labels,Trade show and market assets, helping the brand make a strong first impression at local events and food fairs. The finished brand embodies craft, community, and sustainability – three core pillars of The Hampshire Apple Press’s mission. It communicates authenticity and warmth while leaving space for growth as the business expands into new product lines and distribution opportunities. As The Hampshire Apple Press prepares to open its doors in 2026, the new visual identity will serve as a strong foundation for their launch and beyond – helping to champion British-grown produce, reduce waste, and celebrate the simple pleasure of turning local apples into something extraordinary.
